Did you know?
Beaches in Santa Cruz face south! (That's why it may seem the sun is setting on the east.)
Below are a list of places to watch the sun set.
This is the number one place to watch the sunset. Anywhere on this drive works, but my favorite place is just above Its Beach. If you're driving, find a parking spot (they're free) and walk over to this spot. Generally the tourist crowds and traffic starts to thin out here.
Still on West Cliff, but much farther away from the Boardwalk. I suggest parking at the 20 min spot to watch the sunset from above, or walk down to beach. Parking is free.
3. Panther Beach
No panthers here, but another great place- especially if you're a photographer.
This one is a little tough to get to since this isn't really IN Santa Cruz but is outside of the city limits. Parking can get crowded, and it is a bit off the beaten path. A local secret.
4. University of California, Santa Cruz
This UC campus will feel like another world. Park and walk out to Upper East Field. You will see a bird's eye view of the coast. On cloudless days, you will be able to see Monterey in the distance. Make sure you pay for parking if you visit during the weekdays. On weekends, parking is free.
Have you been out to any of these spots?
